Whether you're a beginner or someone looking to build a stronger foundation, this series was designed to take you step-by-step through all of the major scales on the guitar. Each video in the series focuses on two major scales at a time, grouping them in a way that's easy to memorize and play based on fretboard positions.

Why Learn Major Scales?

The major scale is truly the foundation of music theory. So much of the music we hear every day — from melodies and chords to harmonies and even entire songs — is built from the structure of the major scale. Learning your major scales not only improves your technique, but it also unlocks a deeper understanding of how music works. You'll start to recognize patterns, hear relationships between notes, and feel more confident when playing, improvising, or even writing your own music. It's one of the best ways to grow as a musician, and I'm so excited to guide you through it!

Throughout the challenge, we emphasize a specific finger pattern that will make learning and memorizing the scales much easier:

  • Middle - Pinky

  • Index - Middle - Pinky

  • Index - Ring - Pinky

Following this finger pattern is so important because it promotes efficient movement, better hand positioning, and muscle memory. Once you get the feeling of this pattern into your hands, playing major scales (and eventually melodies and solos!) will feel so much more natural.
